The much anticipated sophomore album Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr.Rager from Kid Cudi hit shelves November 9th. All the Rager, Maniac, and Ghost Cudi listeners went out and copped his record/dvd project. The numbers are in for the first week and sells are high. Cudders sold 169,798 copies, (UPDATE:Recently debuted as #1 rap album on the Billboard charts)Itunes alone he sold 55,000. This is a vast jump from his first installation to his Man on the Moon trilogy that sold 104,000 copies it's first week. Continue article, check out a sneak of MOTMII DVD, and my must listens after the jump...
I love the album from the beginning to end it is really a journey of the highest highs and lowest lows. The record paints vivid paintings of darkness using only shades of black. Almost what Pablo Picasso's blue period is to art, Is what Cudi's MOTMII is to music. Kid Cudi starts the album out talking to all weirdkind. He grabs the attention of his listeners immediately by asking a question,
"What up? How is everybody doing?"
Instantly pulling you into his world for a wondrous 17 tracks (+bonus's if you ordered from iTunes). Mr. Mescudi went on this album holding no bars. The darkness of the lyrics express his way of copping with what comes along with fame. All the things we can't see. From money, drugs, women, partying, drinking, and feeling like there is no one you can trust because there is hidden motives behind their friendship. This is expressed very clearly in 'Don't play this song' featuring the queen of mashing R&B and Hip Hop styles together, Mary J. Blige. Cudi's feelings aren't hid in this record no subliminal rhymes. He states
"People really think they being helpful/by telling me please be careful/ yeah right/ please don't play this song"
In the past Kid Cudi has expressed his love of Jimi Hendrix and has even been compared to him in some ways. I wasn't totally sure about the comparisons but, once he started singing more and performing with guitar in hand, I knew I was being introduced to our generations Rockstar. The album really gave me the modern feel of The Experience's celebrated record Electric LadyLand that also has a DVD,photo book, and even Cudi has a picture with beautiful topless girls surrounding him like the UK cover of Electric LadyLand minus Jimi.
From ghostly guitar wrifts, hypnotic melodies, and lyrics you can qoute at any given time. Cudi's album is pure crack that you need to immediately get addicted to. The features are crazy you'll find GLC, Cage, St. Vincent, Chip Tha Ripper, the amazing soul rockstar Cee-Lo Green, and the beautiful voice of Nicole Wray can all be heard on Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr.Rager.

Here's a glimpse of my journey to Mr. Rager. I ordered via online per-order which I will never do again. It took forever to receive my copy. I guess I'm just a old school chile. Take me to the record store and I am in heaven.
