Art: Crocker Art Museum & Gallery with Rick Gee
Only one could imagine the experience of a time travel through centuries of creative art and design. Earlier today, I had the opportunity to journey through such a portal , as I entered the glass doors of the enchanting Crocker Art Museum. The gallery featured six exhibits ranging from International ceramics to California & American art, both relic and modern. Crocker's heavenly collection of massive oil paintings from the 16th and 17th-century were as breathe-taking as Michaelangelo's Sistine Chapel. The main feature highlighted sculptures and wood cut pieces from sculptor and printmaker John Buck. Although, I wasn't able to take photographs of Buck's work, I did get the chance to capture the stunning works from the European and California art collection, as well as an exhibit giving prominence to select high school students throughout the California region. Amazingly inspired by the works of the students, I've included their pieces after the jump. Overall, it was GUD experience! If you're ever in Downtown Sacramento, swing by, and feed that hunger for inspiration.
