Hip Hop: Mike Jaggerr x The Eleventh Hour (Review)

When  someone can come out and speak from the soul a place that is much deeper than the heart, there is no other option for them then to succeed. The truth is what people live for. Passion is something that can not be taught and strength can not be bought. Mike Jaggerr epitomizes all three: truth, passion and strength. From early beginnings Mike seen and experienced the worst but overcame them victoriously. The Eleventh Hour is his proven testament that if you believe in yourself you can overcome any and everything. Songs like "I'm My Hero" Jaggerr tells why a role model is irrelevant. Although Mike states these things I believe he was imbued by those teachings from his father that he speaks of in "Tired of Running'. Which now seems to resonate within Mike to make him the man and artist he has become today.

The Eleventh Hour is the first mixtape by the 21 year old rapper, singer/songwriter, and producer who is managed by MTV's senior news reporter Jayson Rodriguez along side Tone The Vizionary. With DJ Wonder this is a highlight of a beautiful career in Hip Hop.

The Eleventh Hour pays homage to 90s rap and r&b by sampling Notorious BIG's 'Drugs' to Excapes 'Who Can I Run To'. All while listening I couldn't help but to think this could be a classic mixtape. Something we haven't seen since Young Jeezy's Trap or Die. So if my opinion counts for anything I'll say it; the record IS A CLASSIC.

Mike Jaggerr has the ability to captivate your mind over some of your favorite songs instrumentals without you ever noticing it was once someone else's record. This is clear on 'Drugs'; when one can come on a Biggie song (or any ones for that matter) and not focus so much on trying to out do them, your true self shines brighter then any quotable metaphor you can put together. This is apparent by the massive show of love since the release on 1/11/11.

Moreover Mike delivers refreshing chorus's that are in no way, gimmicky but display an eagerness to grind. Demostated in songs like 'Morning, Noon, & Night' the chorus says it all

"Used to be down

Finally got up

Ready for whatever

So I don't give a fuck

All they do is talk

All we do is win

All damn day all I do is go in"

This mixtape has a playtime is over feel and aura surrounding it. Packed with street bangers starting with 'Morning, Noon, & Night', to 'Doing Nothing', all the way down to the bonus track 'Like I Do It'.

Mike Jaggerr is bringing back the meaning in Hip Hop. Writing about his life, story telling, and a bit of comic relief.  With plenty of songs that are unisex; Mike's songs for the ladies are stand outs, 'Drunk Off Your Love' being the star with elements to be released as a radio single (can't you just see the video in your mind?). Lastly we can't over look the laid back 'Cruise Control' featuring fellow upcoming artist BIG K.R.I.T that sounds like it was made exclusively for California summer days, but my opinion may be biased. All in all The Eleventh Hour is a mixtape that relates to current times with a subtle odd to Hip Hop roots no matter if your 15 or 45 Mike Jaggerr has something you can relate to. I couldn't be more happy for him!
