Fashion: The Hundreds Brings Back The Zoot Suit
T he Hundreds pays tribute to the Los Angeles Puchuco culture and the flamboyant zuit suit era with the latest cut-and-sew release, the "Chuco" jacket and "Zoots" pants. The new pieces merge streetwear and tailored menswear, preserving the overblown boxy jackets, excessive fabric, and high-waisted wide-legged pegged pants.
The collection also honors a 1940's hangout Sleepy Lagoon and the Zoot Suit Riots of 1943. Below, read the story about Sleepy Lagoon, along with a detailed look at The Hundreds latest drop.

"The Sleep Lagoon was a local hangout for Chicano youth in the ‘40s and named after a popular Jack Lawrence song, Sleepy Lagoon was a local hangout in the ’40s for Southern California Chicano youth. The reservoir was also the site of an unsolved murder that played a pivotal role in the Zoot Suit Riots of 1943. Although rooted in historical tragedy and prejudice, the Zoot Suit era stands as a testament to Chicano resistance, and has left an indelible mark of influence on Los Angeles culture"
