Nike Unveils HyperAdapt 1.0, The Power-Lacing Sneakers

Sights and sounds from Nike's Innovation For Everybody Event.

G amers have E3, Techies have CES and us sneakerheads have Nike's annual media events. An event, that invites media from all over the world, to get an inside look at what the team at Nike have up their sleeves. This year's theme was "Innovation for Everybody," where the brand communicated its goal of connecting with athletes worldwide and by the looks of things, this year may have taken the cake.

To begin, Nike CEO Mark Parker gave attendees a quick rundown of the innovations that were going to be debuted. One in particular, the new Nike HyperAdapt 1.0, a collaborative effort between the legendary Tinker Hatfield and Nike's Senior Innovator Tiffany Beers. Displayed in a black colorway, the Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 features a speckled white midsole boasting the self-Powered Lacing E.A.R.L. (Electro Adaptive Reactive Lacing) system on the left side of the shoe. E.A.R.L. is what makes this innovation possible, giving the shoes hands-free power-lacing capabilities with sensors at the heel. Preferences can be adjusted using the buttons on the upper, below the collar.
