Nike Kobe 11 "Draft Day" Release Date

W hile fans may not be able to see a Purple and Gold Lakers jersey emblazoned with the #24 on the hardwood again, that doesn't mean The Black Mamba will be hanging up his sneakers. In a short visual presented last week by Nike, Kobe Bryant spoke about his journey with the Oregon-based sportswear company and how thy planned to continue The Black Mamba's legacy.

In an effort, Nike has reimagined June 26th, 1996 – the day Bryant was drafted to the Charlotte Hornets – with the Kobe 11 "Draft Day" silhouette.  It wasn't too long after, the 19-year old rookie was traded to Lakers for their starting center, Vlade Divac.

The silhouette pays tribute to the Charlotte Hornets with Purple and Teal accents throughtout while a White engineered mesh makes up the upper with underlying Flywire cables. You can see the Purple on the tongue's branding as well as the swoosh on the upper panel. Teal can be found on the tongue, lining, heel, insoles and outlining of the upper panel swoosh. Other details include the 6.26.96 on the heel – remembering the day Kobe Bryant was drafted.

The Nike Kobe 11 “Draft Day” will arrive at select NSW retailers and online April 28th, with a price tag of $160 USD.
