Kanye West and Jay Z's TIDAL Is Being Sued for 'TLOP' Subscriptions

O n February 15th, Kanye West made an announcement via Twitter stating,

My album will never never never be on Apple. And it will never be for sale... You can only get it on Tidal.

I guess that was enough for 2 million people to subscribe to Jay-Z's music streaming platform, Tidal. However, on April 1st, Kanye's TLOP went up for sale and streaming on other streaming outlets such as Apple's iTunes and Spotify. This didn't sit to well with Justin Baker-Rhett, a fan of Kanye who is now suing the pop mega star as well as Jay-Z and Tidal.

For those who followed the release of Kanye's The Life of Pablo, you might remember Ye making edits to the album and delivering different versions to the same song, well after the album had released and subscribers had already ended their 30-day free trial.

Baker-Rhett, claims that Kanye West deliberately deceived fans in an effort to increase Tidal's subscription numbers while also assisting the streaming service to rank amongst its competitors. His claims are outlined in a class action lawsuit that has been presented a few days ago. The lawsuit is the first for a major change in how subscription-based applications function while also refunding users who subscribed based on the exclusiveness stated by Kanye.

The lawsuit will set Tidal a few steps back in it's journey to be the leading music streaming service. No word if the case will move forward or not but this is a definitely a start to issuing subscribers a refund for the lost cause while also forcing TIDAL to prompt users with negative renewal options.
