Exhibit: Gil Vincente x "Enemies"
I think art has finally found it's most controversial pieces ever. Brazilian artist Gil Vincente showcased his recent works at the San Paulo Art Biennial titled "Enemies". A collection of charcoal pieces illustrating Gil assassinating the world's most influential leaders. Victims caught in the killing spree were Pope Benedict XVI, The Queen of England, George W. Bush, former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharone, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula de Solva, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and former UN Secretary General and Kofi Annan. While the controversy flared Gil's thesis behind his motive was powerful stating,
“Because they kill so many other people, it would be a favour to kill them, understand? Why don’t people in power and in the elite die?”
