Hip Hop: J.Cole x Friday Night Lights (Review)
Since it's release on November 12th, Friday Night Lights has been on heavy rotation. From the laptop, to the TV, to the Ipod, all the way down to to any car I hopped in. All thanks really goes to the Gud Guy for putting me on to J.Cole. I wasn't a listener before, but surely after listening to FNL I'll be hitting up the net for MP3's. From the intro to the bonus track I was constantly impressed. Not once did I skip over a song. And nowadays that is a very hard task for me with the quality of music that has become the basic. Not only is J.Cole a breath of fresh lyrical air, but that air from the 90's when there was rappers like Biggie, Pac, Jay, and Ice Cube to name a few that could captivate your mind, thought process and paint vivid pictures of what was being rhymed. From the Badu samples, Aaliyah mixes, hustler motivational tracks, and smooth shit for the ladies. There is no topic untouched on Friday Night Lights. Overall I give the mixtape 5 out of 5 stars. Must listens of the Mixtape after the jump.
